On January 30-31, Ben Wengel from Numismatic Guaranty Company (NGC) taught the NGC “Introduction to Grading” class at the World Money Fair in Berlin. Wengel instructed 20 attendees on coin grading basics using a selection of ungraded world coins on loan from the ANA’s Edward C. Rochette Money Museum, along with graded NGC examples. The class marks the first time the Money Museum and NGC have collaborated in this way for an NGC educational program.

“This was a great opportunity for the ANA and NGC to reaffirm our long-term relationship through a cooperative educational effort,” says Money Museum Director and Curator Douglas Mudd. “The Money Museum was happy to support instructor Ben Wengel’s request to borrow a selection of ungraded world coins for their Introduction to Grading class at the Berlin World Money Fair.”
