Ideally suited to the investor, the Perth Mint’s newest release in its long-running Australian Kookaburra silver bullion series depicts the native bird in flight. The 2026 coins are available in 1-ounce, 10-ounce, and 1-kilo versions. The 1-ounce coin has a limited mintage of 500,000, while the other sizes are unlimited until the end of the year.

Designed by Wade Robinson, the reverse portrays the kookaburra flying over a river, framed by lush trees and rugged rocks. Also on the reverse is a microscopic laser-engraved letter that serves as a security feature. The obverse bears Dan Thorne’s effigy of King Charles III.

The kookaburra is known for its iconic, laughter-like call that echoes through the Australian bush at dawn, earning it the nickname “bushman’s clock” for its reliable morning chorus. A member of the kingfisher family, it’s admired for its sturdy build, sharp beak, and keen hunting skills. Its presence in folklore, art, and children’s songs has made the kookaburra a cherished symbol of Australian wildlife and identity.

The Perth Mint launched its annual bullion series featuring the bird in 1990, and it has gained worldwide popularity. The 2026 release is already in high demand, and the mint has warned that orders may be delayed. To learn more, visit the Perth Mint’s website.
