The Royal Canadian Mint recently released the first of its 2026 Canada’s National Parks coins, a four-piece survey depicting the picturesque diversity of the country’s many national parks and reserves. The first of the 2026 coins showcases Torngat Mountains National Park, a 3,700-square-mile landmark boasting the highest mountains east of the Canadian Rockies.

Torngat Mountains National Park borrows its name from the word Tongait, an Inuktitut word meaning “place of spirits.” The remote park’s splendor is gorgeously captured by Nunatsiavut artist Bronson Jacque, whose colorized reverse design is anchored by a deep, glacier-carved valley basking under the turquoise glow of the Aurora Borealis. As a single caribou perks its head upward into the dazzling night sky, two red Adirondack chairs—a staple in many Canadian landmarks governed by the agency known as Parks Canada—invite viewers to enjoy the scene.

The 1-ounce .9999-fine silver coin boasts its requisite obverse portrait of Britain’s King Charles III and carries a face value of $20. Product options begin at CA$279.95 (US$205). However, with only 7,000 pieces struck, the coin is currently reported as “out of stock in stores” on the Royal Canadian Mint’s website.
