In 2026 the United States will celebrate 250 years of independence—a historic milestone that offers us an opportunity to reflect on the many ways money and freedom are connected.

From the earliest days of the Republic, issuing our own coinage has represented more than just commerce—it has symbolized national identity, sovereignty, and self-determination. Money is not only a medium of exchange; it’s an enduring marker of independence and statehood.

Join us in honoring America’s 250th anniversary and the powerful role money has played as a symbol of independence. For the 2026 National Coin Week, the ANA invites you to submit your ideas for a theme. Share your creativity and help shape this special celebration by submitting a title that embraces this idea by Friday, October 31, at NationalCoinWeek.org. Titles should be short (no more than eight words) and easy to remember. The member who submits the winning title will receive a prize.
