Ancients Expert Joins SBG Team

Stack’s Bowers Galleries has appointed numismatist Ryan Dempsey as a trader in ancient coins. Using his extensive expertise and background in coin grading, research, authentication, and fair market valuation, Dempsey will take the lead on the ongoing expansion of ancient-coin inventory for the firm. 

“Our team of rare-coin traders are highly active within the global U.S. and world coins and paper-money markets, however, until Ryan’s appointment, have not been highly involved in ancient numismatics,” says Stack’s Bowers Galleries President Brian Kendrella. “We are thrilled to have Ryan lead our trading expansion in this category. His talents are numerous, his expertise is well known, and he is highly respected within the field.”

Dempsey has nearly a decade of experience in identifying, acquiring, and marketing high-value ancient coinage through international auctions, online platforms, and at major coin shows. Specializing in gold, silver, and bronze Roman Imperial Twelve Ceasars coinage, he has placed multiple condition-census gold Twelve Ceasars sets with private clients and dealers worldwide.
