Stack’s Bowers Galleries will offer the Rick Springfield Collection in its 2025 Summer Global Showcase Auction, to be held August 25-30 and September 2-5 in the firm’s Griffin Studios at its Costa Mesa, California, headquarters. This assemblage of about three dozen rare U.S. gold coins includes an 1879 $4 gold “Flowing Hair” Stella, graded Proof-65 by the Professional Coin Grading Service (PCGS); a 1907 Saint-Gaudens double eagle (gold $20), graded Mint State (MS)-67+ by PCGS; and an 1833 “Capped Head Left” quarter eagle (gold $2 1/2), graded MS-66 by PCGS.

“I always wanted to own some of the best coins from the best country in the best condition I could collect,” says Springfield. “We are the stewards of these historical items for a period in time. My hope is the next collector who takes possession will love them as much as I have.” Springfield plans to give the buyer two tickets and two VIP backstage passes to one of his concerts in a city of the buyer’s choice. “I look forward to sharing a coin story or two with them!” says Springfield.

Rick Springfield

An avid collector who particularly enjoys vintage and pop culture memorabilia, Springfield is an accomplished musician, actor, and author. He was born in Guildford, New South Wales, Australia, where he began pursuing his musical career. After he relocated to the United States, his 1981 album Working Class Dog catapulted him to international fame, and his hit single “Jessie’s Girl” topped charts in the United States and Australia, earning him a Grammy for Best Male Rock Vocal Performance. He has had 17 Top 40 Hits and has starred in movies and television shows, including the drama General Hospital (1981-83), the film Hard to Hold (1984), and the television show American Horror Story: Cult (2017). Springfield is also known for his New York Times bestselling memoir, Late, Late at Night.

He continues to tour and record music, and he is proud of his collections, which include classic arcade machines, comic books, and action figures.
