The Royal Canadian Mint released a chilling silver commemorative depicting the Lady in White as part of its Haunted Canada series. Dressed in her wedding gown, Mathilde Robin, a grief-stricken bride-to-be, leaped into the waters of the Montmorency Falls in Québec City after her beloved was killed in the nearby Battle of Beauport in 1759 during the Seven Years’ War. According to the legend, her body was never found, and visitors to the waterfall claim to hear her cries or see her ghostly figure plunging from the top of the falls.

Unlike previous releases in the collection, the Lady in White specimen presents its ghost story in a horizontal orientation on a rectangular coin, depicting the cascading Montmorency Falls and a suspension bridge beneath a night sky. When viewed with a black-light flashlight (included with purchase), the Lady in White appears in the mist to the right of the falls, and the lights on the suspension bridge glow. The $20 silver coin is available for CAD$154.95 on the Royal Canadian Mint’s website.
