The Royal Mint has unveiled a stylish coin to recognize the 150th anniversary of one of Britain’s most iconic fashion houses. Founded in 1875 by Arthur Lasenby Liberty and known for its floral and paisley prints, the Liberty department store appears on the 5-pound coin. On the reverse, a vibrant, floral motif from Liberty’s latest fabric collection appears in front of the company’s Tudor-style building, with the legend LIBERTY and 150 YEARS. The obverse features King Charles III’s effigy. Created in the Liberty Design studio, this commemorative marks the first time a fashion house has appeared on a UK coin.

As part of Liberty’s anniversary celebration, a team at the Royal Mint crafted a 1.5kg medallion version of the commemorative. In addition to the medallion, a selection of the commemoratives will be on display and available for purchase in the archive exhibition shop. The coin is available in gold proof, silver proof color, brilliant uncirculated color, and brilliant uncirculated.
