The U.S. Mint will reveal the new 2026 U.S. circulating coin designs authorized as part of the nation’s semiquincentennial celebration on December 10. The Semiquincentennial Circulating Coin Program Design Unveiling will take place at 6:30 p.m. in the F.M. Kirby Auditorium at the National Constitution Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The event is free and open to the public, but advance registration is required due to limited seating. The mint describes the upcoming presentation as an opportunity to reflect “on our country’s founding principles and [honor] our Nation’s history.” Event details and registration information are available on the U.S. Mint’s website.

Authorizing Legislation

The redesigns were authorized by the Circulating Collectible Coin Redesign Act of 2020, which reads, in part, that the “Treasury may issue quarter dollars, beginning January 1, 2026, with up to five different designs emblematic of the U.S. semiquincentennial. One of the quarter dollar designs must be emblematic of a woman’s or women’s contribution to the birth of the nation or the Declaration of Independence or any other monumental moments in American history. Treasury may, in addition to the coins honoring Native Americans and honoring innovation and innovators, mint for issuance during the one-year period beginning January 1, 2026, $1 dollar coins with designs emblematic of the U.S. semiquincentennial.”
